Cast Iron Slag Pot and Ingot Mould

Nuova Fonderia di Castenedolo, Products made from Iron

Large and diversified, the foundry’s production is made of: ingot moulds, slag pots, plates, counter plates, tundish covers, sprues, hot tops, grounds, hematite cast iron fly-wheels up to 100 T/each and spheroidal cast iron up to 30 T.

Nuova Fonderia di Castenedolo production takes place in the company plant of 280,000 m2 - of which 20,000 m2 covered - located in an area very close to Brescia.


Cores and sand and resin patterns are made thanks to the production capacity of three mixers.


Nuova Fonderia di Castenedolo casting plants can reach a yearly output of 25,000 tons overall, with the use of three electric furnaces of 50 tons, 65 tons and 22 tons.


Casting is made with pneumatic reversing ladles, with capacities varying from 10 to 55 tons.


Workings are made with 2 vertical lathes, 4 boring machines of which 2 CNC, 1 2000x2000 hacksaw and 1 GF 100 T sandblast.


Thanks to the quality of work carried out in each department and in the different production phases taking place in patterns and cores, casting plants and tapping and in other workings departments, the foundry got EN ISO 9001:2008 quality certification.


Slag pot

In 12 tons, spheroidal cast iron.Slag pots are to be used by steelworks for the disposal of various types of molten slag.

Square ingot moulds

In six tons, hematite cast iron. Square ingot molds are required to obtain ingots with a square cross-section.

Polygonal ingot mould 24 sides

In 80 tons each. Polygonal ingot molds are used by steelwork industries to produce steel ingots with a polygonal cross-section.


3.4 tons steel recycling. Smaller pots used to contain lead or other molten materials and their related slags.


17 tons, 5,200 height. The sprue is a component of the metallurgic process where molten material is introduced into the mold.

Round ingot mould Ø 800

26 tons. Round ingot molds are to be used for the production of steel ingots with a circular cross-section.


22 tons, six channels. Molten steel goes through the sprue and flows into the plate channels to end up into the ingot molds. 

Polygonal ingot mould 16 sides

33 tons each. Ingot molds with 16 sides are used for the production of steel ingots with a polygonal cross-section.

Polygonal ingot mould 12 sides

17 tons each. Ingot molds with 12 sides are used for the production of steel ingots with a dodecagonal cross-section.

Round ingot mould Ø 1200

43 tons. Round ingot molds are required to manufacture steel ingots made in a circular shape.

Counter plate

Six drills 13 tons each. With the plate, the counter plate is put onto the base, with the sprue in the center and the ingot molds at the sides.


63 tons 3,600 diameter. The base is the element upon which rest plate, counter plate and the central sprue.

Ottagonal ingot moulds

15 tons. Octagonal ingot molds are to be used for the production of polygonal steel ingots with 8 sides.


31 tons, 15 cubic meter slag. Pot required to collect molten slags for the metallurgical industry processes.
